Want to see all the new 2019 motorcycle models and get demo rides in October? Then you should have attended the biggest motorcycle trade and consumer show in North America-the AIME Expo recently held. The AIMExpo is the single most important event of this type in the North American market and it has an international impact within the motorcycling and power sports community.
I have the pleasure to attend a Motorcycle Safety Foundation three-day clinic for certified MSF Instructors. Luckily, the MSF REIT courses were held next door to the 2018 American International Motorcycle Exposition (AIMExpo) at the huge Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The event was held on October 13 and 14, 2018. Guess where I spent my lunch hours after the MSF lectures and all my time after the courses ended at 4:30 p.m.? It was fantastic!
The Mandalay Convention Center is really huge! You cannot help but get lost in this facility. It is much bigger than anything in New Orleans. I was impressed. There were over 500 exhibitors in booths in addition to the displays outside where demonstration rides were offered. You need a map to find your way around! There was so much going on, I had to pick and choose what to see. I could have spent three days just in the AIMExpo and not fully seen and participated in what was available to see and do.
What was especially great is there were also large outdoor displays with motorcycles and autocycles you could demo. All the new 2019 models are shown at this show traditionally. Harley-Davidson fan? Not sure what Harley Davidson bike to choose? Well come on in to the adjacent Outdoor AIMExpo and ride them all! Indian fan? Kawasaki fan? Honda fan? Want to drive/ride an autocycle? They were all there to demonstrate.
Another great thing is most all the motorcycle components and motorcycle accessories manufacturers had displays there and consumers are also allowed in the terrific trade show with all the motorcycle industry leaders present from all over the world. Italy had some fantastic products. Electric scooters, electric motocross bikes, electric sportbikes, and electric cruisers were in abundance from companies like Zero and Boom. There were lots of scooters from Vespa and other companies.
In summary—The models and glamour were all there at the AIMExpo 2018!
There was an after-party at 7:00 p.m. with free food and beer for all attendees. There were 25,000 attendees and I was a lucky boy to be able to enjoy the show.
I plan to go back and allocate more time to try and see everything next time.
