Super Lawyers has selected Glenn C. McGovern among the Top Attorneys in Louisiana for 2016, demonstrating his firm’s excellence in the practice of law.

Using a combination of criteria, including professional achievement and peer recognition, Super Lawyers has again selected Glenn C. McGovern among the Top Attorneys in Louisiana for 2016, demonstrating his firm’s excellence in the practice of law.

Notably, in regards to his professional achievements, this past January, McGovern won yet another record jury trial judgment of $600,000 plus attorney fees and costs for five door-to-door salespersons in a federal civil rights lawsuit against two Louisiana Sheriffs.

McGovern commented, “Going door-to-door is protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The U.S. Supreme Court has held they have that right to freedom of speech, just like we all have First and Second Amendment rights. I want to make the community safer through the jury system.” McGovern has, yet again, done just that in this case in Monroe, Louisiana. This was an eight-person, unanimous verdict.

McGovern also wants to make the community safer on its public roads. An avid motorcyclist, McGovern lobbied for Senate Bill SB 171. The SB 171 Louisiana All Road Users Act is based on the Model Vulnerable Users Act that has been adopted in 8 states. The All Users Act will protect bicyclists, children, the handicapped on electric mobility devices, motorcyclists, pedestrians and farmers on slow farm vehicles and provide for enhanced penalty for careless drivers. Presently, careless drivers of cars that kill these road users are usually only cited with a $100 fine for failure to yield plus court costs.

To this end, McGovern appeared before the Louisiana Senate Judiciary Committee C on April 19, 2016, which passed the Committee and passed the Louisiana Senate by a vote of 33-1. McGovern will testify before the Louisiana House of Representatives Administration of Criminal Justice Committee to fight for passage of the All Road Users Act.

McGovern has formed alliances with handicapped groups, bicyclists groups and American Bikers Active Toward Education (A.B.A.T.E.). McGovern is also a Vice President of Greater New Orleans A.B.A.T.E. Chapter.

He has additionally published another monthly article for the Louisiana Association for Justice monthly magazine entitled 10 Reasons Why Louisiana Should Adopt the All Road Users Act.

The seasoned trial lawyer taught a two-day education course in trial tactics to fellow trial lawyers in Atlanta, Georgia, Salt Lake City and Utah.
